
Tommy Langakar is a submission grappler from Norway born on February 8, 1994. He started his training in traditional ju-jitsu at 11 which was a popular combat technique in Scandinavia during the 2000s.’Under the apprenticeship of Luis Alberto Armas Langakar shaped his game and technique to great levels.
Getting engrossed in the combat sports discipline, Langakar started taking part in competitions globally in order to explore his potential in the combat style. During his odyssey, he crossed paths with Espen Mathiesen who aided Langakar’s propulsion to black-belt. The duo later signed with Art of Jiu-jitsu in 2014, an academy that was supervised by Guilherme and Rafael Mendes in California.
In 2015, Langakar eventually became a full-time athlete by dedicating his entire focus to the sport. He worked as a trained carpenter back then. Tommy earned a brown belt under the mentorship of the Mendes brothers. After his stint in California, USA, Tommy Langakar returned home and joined a renowned team in Europe, Kimura/Nova Uniao with his coach Jose Carlos.
Under coach Carlos, Langakar Tommy further propelled his career to new heights by securing important victories at the IBJJF European Open, Pan American Championship, and Copa Podio. With the help of these significant victories, he graduated with a black belt in 2017. Langakar has 135 wins and 32 losses to his record and is now scheduled to lock horns with Kade Routolo at ONE 165 on January 28, 2024, in a grappling showdown.
