Alexa Grasso was born on August 9, 1993, in Guadalajara, Mexico, and is the reigning UFC flyweight champion in the women’s division. She stands 5'5" tall, with a reach of 66 inches. As of September 2024, Grasso is the #1 pound-for-pound female fighter in the UFC. Her MMA career started in 2012 and she quickly became one of the fast-rising prospects with sharp striking and grappling combinations. Grasso's most notable win came in March 2023 when she beat Valentina Shevchenko at UFC 285 to capture the UFC Women's Flyweight Championship, becoming the first Mexican woman to ever claim a UFC title. She won via submission in the fourth round and showcased her grappling prowess. She later fought again against Shevchenko in September 2023, and the bout ended in a split draw which permitted Grasso to retain her belt.

As of September 2024, Grasso holds a professional record of 16-3-1 defeating fierce opponents like Viviane Araújo, Joanne Wood, and Maycee Barber. She currently trains out of Lobo Gym MMA in Mexico and her next fight is once again against Valentina Shevchenko at Noche UFC 306 on September 14, 2024.

Alexa Grasso's first loss came in her promotional debut in the UFC against Felice Herring. This bout took place at UFC Fight Night: Bermudez vs. The Korean Zombie in February 2017 and Grasso lost the bout via a unanimous decision after three rounds.

Alexa Grasso vs. Tatiana Suarez

Grasso faced Tatiana Suarez at UFC Fight Night in May 2018 and suffered her second career defeat, this time via a first-round rear-naked choke. Suarez, known for her dominant wrestling, quickly imposed her ground game. After securing an early takedown, Suarez advanced to Grasso’s back and locked in the choke, forcing a submission at 2:44 of the first round.

Alexa Grasso vs. Carla Esparza

Alexa Grasso’s third loss was against Carla Esparza on UFC Fight Night on September 21, 2019. This fight was notable for the back-and-forth exchanges between Grasso’s striking and Esparza’s wrestling. While Grasso's stand-up game was effective, Esparza's ability to secure takedowns made the difference. Grasso came close to winning with a near-submission, but Esparza’s grappling experience prevailed, leading to a narrow decision win.
