Ion Cutelaba is a Moldovan MMA fighter nicknamed “The Hulk” who fights in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He competes in the light heavyweight division of the organization.

Born in Chisinau, Moldova he started training and competing in Greco-Romanian Wrestling in his adolescence. He also competed in sambo and Judo and became a national champion in both. Cutelaba made his professional mixed martial arts debut on April 5, 2012, against Daglar Gasimov at CIS: Cup at Nizhny, Novgorod, Russia. He won the bout via TKO in the first round of the fight.

Ion Cutelaba competed in regional promotions before making his debut in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) against Misha Chirkunov on June 18, 2016, at UFC Fight Night: MacDonald vs. Thompson Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Cutelaba lost his inaugural fight in the promotion via submission in the third round due to an arm triangle choke. Ion Cutelaba has a professional MMA record of 17 wins, 9 losses, 1 draw, and 1 no-contest. Securing a win against Jonathan Wilson, Cutelaba suffered a loss at the hands of Jared Canonier, he went on to amass a two-fight win streak against Henrique de Silva and Gadhzimurad Antigulov and lost in a high-stakes bout against UFC veteran Glover Teixeira. Ion Cutelaba won against Roundtree Jr. and lost back-to-back bouts against Magomed Ankalaev twice before featuring in a fight against Dustin Jacoby which resulted in a draw. He was able to recover from his losses by beating Devin Clark and then followed that up with three consecutive losses against Ryan Spann, Johnny Walker, and Kennedy Nzechukwu before winning against Tanner Boser. One of his professional bouts against Murod Hanturaev was deemed a no-contest due to a referee error.
