Last Modified Dec 22, 2021 07:11 GMT

Careful not to get ink’d! Octillery is Jet Pokemon, a Water-type tentacled sea creature with a rock hard head and a figurative cannon for a mouth. With its signature move Octazooka, it can do considerable damage whilst blinding its enemies. It is an offensive powerhouse capable of busting through defenses with both physical and special attacks. It is the evolved form of Remoraid, which is achieved by hitting the level threshold. Octillery was first introduced in the 2nd generation of Pokemon games in Gold/Silver, and debuted in the anime episode “Octillery the Outcast”, after an episode-long struggle by its owner to evolve a Remoraid.

Appearance

Octillery resembles an octopus with its proportions, with a huge red head along with its eight tentacles. It has yellow suction cups on each tentacle along with three hardened bumps on its head. These suction cups allow it to firmly grab onto any surface that anchor it for either defensive or offensive purposes. Female Octillery typically have smaller cups than their male counterparts Much like its name would imply, Octillery’s mouth resembles that of an artillery cannon and functions similarly to it, as it is able to fire out high velocity projectiles. On average, Octillery comes out to just under 3 feet and weighs 63 pounds.

Behavior

Octillery has a tendency to sneak into whatever rocky nooks and crannies it might find, even forcing out whatever may have been residing in it previously. It is an otherwise reserved Pokemon that would use its inky discharge in defense of itself or its young in the face of potential predators. It is almost exclusively only found in oceans.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Octillery boasts a sizable Attack and Special Attack stat that allows it to be a deadly mixed attacker that can always be sure to hit the weaker side of an opponent’s defenses. Its unique move Octazooka allows it to both attack and debuff an oponent’s accuracy at the same time. Unfortunately this comes at the cost of being very slow, Octillery is almost certainly always going to be attacking second with its abysmal speed stat. As a pure Water type, Octillery is weak to both Grass and Electric type but resistant to Fire, Ice, Water, and Steel type moves

Best moveset

Thanks to its great attack and special attack stats, Octillery can focus fully on type coverage in order to hit for super effective damage on the majority of opponents. Its speed is still a factor that must be compensated for, one common choice is for Octillery to be used in Trick Room teams, flipping its speed disadvantage into a strength

How to catch Octillery in Pokemon Go?

It was formerly a Tier 3 raid battle, as well as acquirable from Research Task completions.

Trivia

  1. Octillery is a combination of the words “Octopus” and “Artillery”
  2. In Generation VIII, Grapploct became the only other Pokemon capable of learning Octazooka.
  3. Omastar is considered to be its predecessor

Moody, which randomly raises one stat and lowers another.

Conclusion

Octillery, fitting to its name, is an absolute cannon for all of the good and bad that entails. This sea creature is definitely worth experimenting with on your team!
