Appearance of Rayquaza

Rayquaza is a huge, serpentine Pokémon with a green body. It has wings with red tips on its shoulders and down its body, as well as fins with a similar pattern on the tip of its tail. Rayquaza has two limbs and three-clawed hands, as well as two large, flat horn-like structures on its head and two shorter horns along its jawline. It has two noticeable fangs in its upper jaw and small yellow eyes with black pupils. Its body is covered with yellow ring-like symbols, with an additional yellow ring on top of its head.

Behavior of Rayquaza

Rayquaza appears to be a territorial and violent Pokémon, as seen by its attack on a Deoxys. Rayquaza's body includes the Mikado organ, an organ with the same power as a Mega Stone. The Mikado organ charges with enough energy to enable Rayquaza's Mega Evolution when Rayquaza eats meteoroids on its way into the stratosphere. Rayquaza can soothe other members of the super-ancient Pokémon. It is seldom seen by humans, as its appearance, even in flight, is indistinguishable from that of a meteor. Rayquaza is a Pokémon that preys on Minor in the Alola area and has some of the most powerful attack power of any Pokémon. Last but not the least, Rayquaza is the only known Pokémon capable of learning the move Dragon Ascent.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Lucario is a dragon and flying type Pokémon. Due to possessing dual-types, it is stronger against a greater number of Pokemon as well, while simultaneously being weaker against many as well. It is the strongest against Ground-type such that it takes no damage from them. Next in line is the Grass-type Pokemon as it takes only a quarter of the normal damage from them. In contrast, it takes half the damage from Fire, Water, Fighting, and Bug types. On the other hand, it's weak against Dragon, Fairy, and Rock types such that it takes double the normal damage from each of these Pokemon. Lastly, Ice Pokemon possess the ability to deal the most damage to Rayquaza with a chance of up to 4 times the normal damage being inflicted by them.

Mega Rayquaza

Rayquaza's body and head become longer as it evolves into Mega Rayquaza. Its pupils and irises become yellow, and black, shaped marks trail behind its eyes. Moreover, Rayquaza’s red lips and teeth turn to gold, and the gold lines on its lower horns join together to form a wide, triangular shape. Long, golden tendrils grow from the lower horns' outer edges to a green, fin-like structure. These tendrils also feature ring patterns similar to the yellow marks on Rayquaza's regular form.

Mega Rayquaza's has two upper horns, which have become longer with a gold line running across them, and each upper horn has a tendril that ends in a circular design with a spike. Mega Rayquaza has golden, glowing orbs instead of ring patterns on its pre-evolved form. Its chin, neck, and some parts of its serpentine body turn black and the fins that run along its body have streaks of golden lines, while the fins on its tail turn completely golden and grow longer. It is worth noting that Mega Rayquaza has the highest base Attack and Special Attack stats and the highest base stat total of all Dragon-type and Flying-type Pokémon.

Mega Rayquaza

Shiny Mega Rayquaza

Pokémon The Movie - Hoopa and the Clash of Ages feature Primal Groudon, Kyogre, a Shiny Mega Rayquaza, and Hoopa making it the first Pokémon movie to officially feature a Shiny Mega Legendary Pokémon, which is Mega Rayquaza. In the movie, Hoopa calls in Lugia, Latios, Latias, and Shiny Mega Rayquaza to help Ash and Pikachu as Prison Bottle breaks due to the overwhelming power and Dialga, Palkia, Kyurem, Primal Groudon, Primal Kyogre and Giratina start being summoned to destroy the city.

Primal Rayquaza

Rayquaza has said to go Mega instead of Primal, because Primal means being in an anger-driven state, only to be guided by instinct, while Mega Evolutions completely retain their state of mind like Rayquaza has demonstrated on several occasions.

Best Moveset

Air Slash allows Rayquaza to attacks with a blade of air that can even slice the sky. An added effect of this move is the ability to make the target flinch, a status condition preventing a Pokemon to attack for a turn. Dragon Pulse is a damage-dealing Dragon-type move introduced in Generation IV in which a target is attacked with a shock wave generated by the user's gaping mouth.

Best Moveset of Rayquaza

Hurricane allows Rayquaza to attack by wrapping its opponent in a fierce wind that flies up into the sky, with a small chance of applying the confusion status effect. Outrage is a damage-dealing Dragon-type move introduced in Generation II where Rayquaza rampages and attacks for two to three turns. It deals a whopping 120 damage; however, the user will have the confusion effect applied upon using the move.
