Erica Wheeler is a professional WNBA player for the Indiana Fever, as of September 2024. She had been undrafted out of Rutgers University in 2013 but she did not give up and was able to join the league in 2015 with the Atlanta Dream. Wheeler’s childhood and college life was not very smooth as she faced some personal issues such as her mother’s death due to cancer, before the start of her senior year in college. She got her big break when she signed for the Indiana Fever in 2016, where she established herself as a star and was awarded the MVP of the 2019 WNBA All-Star Game, making her the first undrafted player to achieve this.

Wheeler was a McDonald’s All-American coming out of high school in 2009 and had a few rough years after college. She won her first All-Star nomination in 2019, her only one as of September 2024. She has played for the New York Liberty, Los Angeles Sparks, Atlanta Dream and is with the Indiana Fever, as of September 2024.
