Rangers' Calhoun cleared for workouts
- After undergoing surgery earlier this month, the Texas Rangers' Willie Calhoun was cleared for workouts.
The Texas Rangers' Willie Calhoun revealed he had been cleared for workouts in his recovery from a broken jaw.
Calhoun's tweet was sent the same day that was scheduled to be opening day of the 2020 season before the coronavirus pandemic caused MLB to postpone the games.
His jaw was broken when he was hit in the face by a fastball from the Los Angeles Dodgers' Julio Urias on March 8. He had surgery the next day.
"Got cleared to start doing my daily workouts and baseball activities again," Calhoun wrote on Twitter on Thursday. "Let's go."
The 25-year-old Calhoun is projected to be the Rangers' everyday left-fielder after hitting 21 home runs in 309 at-bats last season and with Texas trading outfielders Delino DeShields and Nomar Mazara in the offseason.Published 27 Mar 2020, 04:38 IST
