Kentavious Caldwell-Pope's plans with the Orlando Magic came to an early end on Sunday when he was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in the Desmond Bane trade. Caldwell-Pope's wife, McKenzie Caldwell-Pope, shared her feelings about the news on her social media post.
She shared a series of vacation photos, including sweet family shots of the couple and their five children aboard a yacht. McKenzie and KCP also posed for a cozy snap together.
In the caption, McKenzie revealed that they got the news about the trade when they were in the middle of the ocean. She wrote:

"We were in the middle of the ocean yesterday when we got the news about KCP going to the grizzlies. Not the news we were expecting on vacation but we are excited to take on a new city with our crew. To our protector, provider and the heartbeat of our household @caldwellpope Happy Father’s Day! From your number one fans in any city! We love you Daddy! 🤍"

In the only season with the Orlando Magic, KCP recorded his worst scoring season since his rookie year. He averaged 8.7 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 1.8 apg and 1.3 spg in 77 games. His field goal attempts, including 3-pointers, were down to a career-low with the Magic. He will expect to get more shots up when he plays alongside Ja Morant.
The Magic gave away KCP, Cole Anthony and four first-round picks to the Grizzlies for Desmond Bane.
Dwight Howard sends big message to Kentavious Caldwell-Pope after Grizzlies trade
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope had already won two titles and brought a championship experience to Orlando. Caldwell-Pope had big plans when he joined the Magic.
Only last month, Caldwell-Pope appeared on Dwight Howard's "Above the Rim with DH12" podcast. While discussing his long-term plan with the team, he said that the team had great players on the roster and they were moving in the right direction to win a title.
A month later, his dream of winning the title with the young Magic team came to an end. While KCP has yet to express his feelings about the trade, Howard made a special post dedicated to KCP on X to keep his morals high. The former Orlando Magic great said:
"KCP you said you wanted to bring one to Orlando we’ll go ahead and get you one in Memphis 🫡🔥,"
Desmond Bane was arguably the second-most important player on the Grizzlies' roster, and his trade move might indicate that they are moving towards rebuilding. Whether Kentavious Caldwell-Pope would be part of their rebuild remains to be seen.
