Deion Sanders is a former professional athlete and the Head coach of the Colorado Buffaloes. Sanders was a standout cornerback and a kick returner who won the Super Bowls twice and made eight Pro Bowl appearances. He played American football and baseball from 1985 to 2005 and began his coaching career in 2012. Sanders started coaching at Prime Prep Academy and landed his first head coaching opportunity in 2020 for the Jackson State Tigers. Sanders committed to the Colorado Buffaloes for the 2023 season and nearly replaced the entire Buffaloes' roster, transferring 46 players and signing 50. Nine of those signing were from the Jackson State Tigers, including his sons Shilo and Shedeur.

Deion Sanders’s collegiate career was remarkable. He began at Florida State University by playing football, baseball, and track events. He played as a cornerback and was the return specialist. Sanders earned selections in the All-American team twice in 1987 and 1988. He was awarded the Jim Thorpe Award in 1988 as the nation's best defensive back. Sanders was also a standout baseball player at the collegiate level for the Florida State Seminoles, demonstrating his dual-sport talent. Such collegiate success was the stepping stone that led to his remarkable career in professional sports for both the NFL and MLB. Sanders’ successful collegiate career granted him an opportunity to represent the New York Yankees (MLB) and Atlanta Falcons (NFL) in 1989.
