Two of her sons, Ramesh Kumar Nikhanj and Bhushan Nikhanj, were born in Fazilka, Punjab, where Raj Kumari and her husband lived shortly after the partition of India. Her youngest son, Kapil Dev, was born in Chandigarh. Raj Kumari raised all her seven children single-handedly after her husband’s demise in 1975.
