Magnezone in Pokemon Go

Recently added to Pokemon Go is the final evolution of the Magnemite line, Magnezone. This hulking ball of levitating steel is a powerful teammate and can hit hard. Unfortunately it has a number of weaknesses other electric types do not.

About Magnezone

About Magnezone

Magnezone is an electric and steel type Pokemon that was originally introduced in the Pokemon games Diamond and Pearl. This magnetic Pokemon can emit a powerful magnetic field and is the evolution of the Pokemon Magneton. While Magnezone is a sturdy steel type, its type combination leaves it vulnerable to fighting and fire moves as well as being incredibly weak to ground type moves. To balance this, Magnezone can take a few hits and has a wide range of types it is resistant to.

Magnezone are not native to any region or area and instead are only obtained by evolving them from Magneton.

How to Get Magnezone in Pokemon Go

In a Nutshell

“Collect 125 Magnemite candy and a Magnetic Lure, then use the lure on a Pokestop. While inside the radius of the lure, give 25 Magnemite candy to a Magnemite to evolve it into Magneton then give the Magneton 100 Magnemite candy to evolve it into a Magnezone”

Magnezone can only be obtained by evolving a Magneton in a specific way. First, you must purchase a Magnetic Lure from the shop and use it on a Pokestop. These lures will attract electric type Pokemon but will also allow Magneton to evolve into Magnezone. Once the lure is used, giving the Magneton you want to evolve 100 Magnemite candy while standing within the area of the Pokestop with the lure will cause it to be able to evolve into Magnezone.

Requirements to Get Magnezone

Requirements to Get Magnezone

Magnezone, being the third Pokemon in its evolution line, requires a ridiculous amount of candy to obtain. You first need to evolve a Magnemite into a Magneton which requires 25 Magnemite candy. Then you will need 100 more Magnemite candy to evolve the Magneton into Magnezone, bringing the total up to 125 Magnemite candy.

Magnemite and Magneton are found where other electric types spawn, near industrial buildings, college campuses, and dry climates and where steel types are found, within cities or near railroad tracks

By having a Magnemite or Magneton as your buddy Pokemon you will receive one Magnemite candy by walking 3 Kilometers (1.8 miles) with them so have an Magnemite or Magneton as your buddy while you search for candy. While candy hunting, make sure to make ample use of Pinap berries which double the candy gained from catching a Pokemon.

Magnetic Lure is required to get Magnezole

Finally, you need a Magnetic Lure. This lure can be purchased from the shop menu for 200 Pokecoins. Earning these coins can be a bit confusing but as long as you have a Pokemon defending a gym, they will earn you Pokecoins throughout the day which are delivered to you automatically. So while you’re out Magnemite hunting put a few Pokemon into gyms to ensure you can afford the Magnetic Lure.

Step 2: Defend gyms with your Pokemon to earn at least 200 Pokecoins.

Step 3: Use the 200 Pokecoins to purchase a Magnetic Lure from the shop menu.

Step 4: Use the Magnetic Lure on a Pokestop and stay within its radius.

Trivia

The colors on the ends of Magnezone's magnets can turn on and off at will, as seen in the Pokémon Mystery Dungeon series and the 3D Pokémon games.

If Magnezone falls asleep, its central "eye" remains open. However, the outer eyes close.

Despite most depictions of Magnezone showing they are able to float through the air, Magnezone is still affected by Ground-type moves.

Magnezone (along with Probopass, Leafeon, and Glaceon) is one of four Pokémon in Pokémon GO that must be evolved while the player is within range of a Pokestop outfitted with a Lure Module (in this case, a Magnetic Lure Module)

Conclusion

Magnezone is a tough get, requiring two evolutions and a lure but once you do get one it can be essential to your team. Even with its major weakness to ground moves, this Pokemon can tank hits like no other and if it knows Charge Beam as well as either Zap Cannon or Flash Cannon, you can overwhelm your foes with quick charging, heavy hitting moves from a Pokemon that just refuses to faint.
