The Hua Hin Championships is a tournament for professional female tennis players sponsored by Toyota played on outdoor hard courts. The tournament was founded in 2015 in Thailand, also called the Toyota Thailand Open, held twice in 2015 and 2017 for men and women. The event was classified as the $250,000 tournament on the Women's Tennis Association (a world wide professional tennis tour for women founded in 1973) and the $125,000 of men on the ATP challenge tour (a series of international men's professional tennis tournament) until 2018..
The winners in 2015 were Yaroslava Shvedova of Women's Singles and Yuichi Sugita of Men's Singles & Belinda Bencic and John Millman of Women's Single and Men's Single respectively in 2017. Whereas the players won the Women's Doubles in 2015 were Liang Chen and Wang Yafan against Varatchaya Wongteanchai and Yang Zhaoxuan, Duan Yingying and Wang Yafan against Dalila Jakupovic and Irina Khromacheva in 2017. In Men's Doubles Lee Hsin-Han and Lu Yen-Hsun won against Andre Begemann in the year 2015 & Sanchai Ratiwatana and Sonchat Ratiwatana against Austin Krajicek and Jackson Withrow in 2017.
The first edition of the tournament was the part of 2015 ATP Challenge Tour and 2015 WTA 125K series. In 2017, the tournament was of 125k series, the 3rd edition of WTA Thailand open is going to held for the first time after 4 years in 2019 at the True Arena Hua Hin in Hua Hin, in Thailand from 28th January 2019 to 2nd February 2019 after the Australian Open. A Hong Kong-based sports and entertainment based agency APG is in the partnership with the WTA Thailand Open Championships. The total prize money will be $250,000 with 280 points. The tournament is said to take another step in the development of tennis in Thailand.
