Artur Beterbiev was born on January 21, 1985, in Dagestan, Russia. He is a professional boxer who as of October 9, 2024, is the reigning unified light-heavyweight champion. As an amateur, he had an impressive 22-match winning streak against top opponents in the world and won gold medals at two European Championships and the World Championships in 2009. He also won a silver medal at the 2007 World Championships. He also represented Russia at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.

Beterbiev earned his first belt (NABA light-heavyweight belt) in 2014 via a knockout of former champion Tavoris Cloud. Since then, he has since added the IBF and WBC light heavyweight titles to his collection, with big wins over guys like Oleksandr Gvozdyk and Joe Smith Jr. As of February 11, 2025, Beterbiev holds the undisputed champion in the light heavyweight division of boxing.
