Her career peaked when she KO’ed the then-undefeated Ronda Rousey at UFC 193. The high kick knockout was awarded “Fight of the Night” and “Performance of the Night” bonuses.

"In the second round, she came out, and I had her timing at that point. I knew I could pick my shots. She went for either a leg hook or to grab at me. It was almost in slow motion. I just dipped under it and that’s when she kind of went down into the cage. At that time I knew that if I impose my will a little bit I could finish. There was a shot that kind of dazed her and then a little bit of a scramble. And I pushed her off and she dropped. And when she got back up that was perfect timing for the kick, and the kick put her down."
Outside of MMA, not many people know that Holm is also the first and only UFC fighter to date to win belts in professional boxing and MMA. While she lost in her first MMA title defense, she has defended her welterweight boxing title for a record 18 times across three weight divisions. "Every single one of us who fights has a personal life, and who knows what's going on? I'm going through a divorce, and somebody else might be going through losing their mom from cancer, or somebody else might be going through maybe (dealing with) a loved one who's a drug addict”
Holm labeled the divorce as the “challenge of her life” and something she’s really learned from.

After graduating, Kirkpatrick was hired by ADESA as a fleet manager. He held that position for a brief period before returning to Albuquerque to work at his family business, AAA Roofing Co.
