Burns made his promotional debut as an undefeated fighter in 2014. Over the years, Gilbert Burns has lost to Rashid Magomedov, Michel Prazeres, Dan Hooker, Kamaru Usman, Khamzat Chimaev, Belal Muhammad, and Jack Della Maddalena, respectively.

Gilbert Burns vs. Rashid Magomedov

Gilbert Burns for his fourth fight in the UFC, faced Rashid Magomedov with an undefeated 10-fight win streak record on November 7, 2015. However, Magomedov had a unanimous decision win over the Brazilian in the lightweight bout.

Gilbert Burns vs. Michel Prazeres

On September 24, 2016, Burns faced Michel Prazeres and lost the three-rounder via a unanimous decision at UFC Fight Night: Cyborg vs. Lansberg.

Gilbert Burns vs. Dan Hooker

After suffering the second professional loss to Prazeres, Gilbert Burns immediately bounced back to a two-fight win streak. However, Burns got stopped by Dan Hooker in a lightweight bout on July 7, 2018, via a first-round KO at UFC 226.

Gilbert Burns vs. Kamaru Usman

However, after his KO loss to Dan Hooker, Gilbert Burns was on a fight win streak, which led him to challenge the former reigning welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman for the title at UFC 258 on February 13, 2021. However, the Brazilian got TKO’d during the early seconds of the third round of the fight.

Gilbert Burns vs. Khamzat Chimaev

On April 9, 2022, Gilbert Burns faced Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 273. After three rounds of intense fist exchanges and grappling, Chimaev had a unanimous decision win over Burns.

Gilbert Burns vs. Belal Muhammad

Gilbert Burns vs. Belal Muhammad took place on May 6, 2023, at UFC 288, as more or less of a title eliminator matchup. However, Burns suffered a unanimous decision loss to Muhammad after the five-rounder.

Gilbert Burns vs. Jack Della Maddalena

Gilbert Burns faced Jack Della Maddalena in his previous outing on March 9, 2024 at UFC 299. Nevertheless, Burns got KO’d during the final minutes of the third round.
