Gilbert Burns is one of the top contenders in the welterweight division of the UFC. Hailing from Niteroi in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the 38-year-old fighter has previously competed against the former champion Kamaru Usman for the welterweight title in the company.

Dan Hooker

After suffering the second professional loss to Michel Prazeres, Gilbert Burns immediately bounced back with a two-fight win streak. However, he was stopped by Dan Hooker in a lightweight bout on July 7, 2018, at UFC 226 via a first-round KO.

Kamaru Usman

Gilbert Burns took on Kamaru Usman on February 13, 2021, at UFC 258 for the welterweight championship. The Brazilian got TKO’d during the early seconds of the third round of the fight and lost via a third-round TKO.

Khamzat Chimaev

On April 9, 2022, Gilbert Burns faced Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 273. After three rounds of intense fist exchanges and grappling, Chimaev secured a unanimous decision win over Burns.

Belal Muhammad

Gilbert Burns vs. Belal Muhammad took place on May 6, 2023, at UFC 288, as more or less of a title eliminator matchup. Burns suffered a unanimous decision loss to Muhammad in the fight.
