Sean Daniel O'Malley, born on October 24, 1994, is an American MMA fighter who competes in the bantamweight division (135 lbs) of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). He is the current bantamweight champion of the UFC. O'Malley is based in Glendale, Arizona, and trains at The MMA Lab, which is under the guidance of head trainer John Crouch. He receives coaching from his longtime friend, Tim Welch. During the early stages of his MMA career in Montana, O'Malley earned the nickname "Sugar" from one of his coaches.

Initially, O'Malley fought his first five matches in Montana. Later, he expanded his reach to North Dakota and eventually joined the Legacy Fighting Alliance, where he gained attention for his impressive knockout victory over David Nuzzo. Following his win against Nuzzo, O'Malley's performance earned him a spot on Dana White's Contender Series 2. In this event, he faced Alfred Khashakyan and secured a remarkable first-round knockout, which led to him being offered a contract to compete in the UFC.

Following this, O'Malley faced ups and downs due to anti-doping policy violations. He underwent hip surgery during his suspension and returned in March 2019. He later won against José Alberto Quiñónez at UFC 248 in March 2020 and then secured a one-punch knockout victory against Eddie Wineland at UFC 250 in June 2020.

O'Malley faced his first setback when he lost to Marlon Vera via TKO at UFC 252 in August 2020 due to a leg kick-induced injury. O'Malley rebounded with a knockout win against Thomas Almeida at UFC 260 in March 2021 and another TKO win against Kris Moutinho at UFC 264 in July 2021. He continued his winning streak by defeating Raulian Paiva via TKO at UFC 269 in December 2021. However, his fight against Pedro Munhoz at UFC 276 in July 2022 ended in a no-contest due to an eye poke. O'Malley faced Petr Yan at UFC 280 in October 2022 and won via split decision, although the result was controversial.

O'Malley defeated Aljamain Sterling at UFC 292 in the UFC bantamweight title showdown on August 19, 2023, and became the new bantamweight champion of the promotion. In his first title defense, 'Sugar' faced Marlon 'Chito' Vera at UFC 299 on March 9, 2024. O'Malley put up a clinical performance and won via unanimous decision.

At Noche UFC 306, Sean O'Malley lost the bantamweight title to Merab Dvalishvili via a unanimous decision.
