Robert John Whittaker, a professional mixed martial artist from Australia, was born on December 20, 1990. Whittaker is a former UFC middleweight champion and currently competes in the middleweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship.

A professional MMA fighter since 2009, Robert Whittaker competed in “The Ultimate Fighter: The Smashes” first season and took home the welterweight championship. After winning the middleweight championship at UFC 213, Whittaker was elevated to the position of undisputed champion when Georges St-Pierre vacated the title in 2017. He is ranked No. 3 in the UFC middleweight rankings as of October 2024.

On April 17, 2021, Whittaker was supposed to compete against Paulo Costa at the UFC on ESPN 22. Kelvin Gastelum took Costa's place in the fight after Costa withdrew on March 16 due to illness. Whittaker prevailed via a unanimous decision in the match.

On February 12, 2022, at UFC 271, a rematch between Whittaker and Israel Adesanya for the UFC Middleweight Championship took place. He was defeated by a unanimous decision.

On June 11, 2022, Whittaker was supposed to take on Marvin Vettori at UFC 275. He, however, withdrew due to an undisclosed reason. The fight was rescheduled for September 3, 2022, at UFC Fight Night 209. Whittaker prevailed via a unanimous decision in the match.

At UFC 284 on February 12, 2023, Whittaker was supposed to take on Paulo Costa. Costa, who claimed he had never signed a contract and that the fight would not go ahead, refuted the promotion's official statement. On July 8, 2023, at UFC 290, Whittaker competed against Dricus du Plessis in a middleweight title eliminator fight and lost via TKO.

Robert Whittaker squared off against Paulo Costa in a highly competitive showdown at UFC 298 on February 17, 2024. Costa came up short in the end and Whittaker ended up securing a unanimous decision victory in the fight.

He was scheduled to take on the undefeated UFC middleweight fighter Khamzat Chimaev on June 22, 2024, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. However, Chimaev withdrew from the bout citing health complications, and was replaced by Ikram Aliskerov. Robert Whittaker beat Ikram Aliskerov in the main event of the UFC on ABC: Whittaker vs. Aliskerov on June 22, 2024, via a first-round KO. His fight against Chimaev got rebooked to UFC 308 on October 26, 2024.
