English mixed martial artist Leon Edwards, was born in Jamaica on August 25, 1991. He is the current UFC Welterweight Champion and competes in the Welterweight division of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
Leon Edwards scripted a fabulous victory in his favor at UFC 278 when he knocked out the then-welterweight champion, Kamaru Usman in the closing moments of the fifth round of the bout. After being outworked for the majority of the fight, he managed to find the opening to deliver a vicious head-kick KO with just a minute to go in the final round to become the new welterweight champion of the UFC.
Leon Edwards returned to action at UFC 286 in a rematch with Kamaru Usman for the welterweight title. The duo had fought twice before this showdown and were evenly poised before entering the bout. Edwards successfully defended his championship by beating the former champion, Kamaru Usman, by a unanimous decision. Leon Edwards faced Colby Covington at UFC 296 on December 16, 2023, in a welterweight title bout and defended his championship successfully by defeating him via unanimous decision.
