Maira Moneo is a popular female professional boxer in her country Uruguay. She has a distinct fighting style that involves pressuring her opponents by throwing everything at them from the word ‘Go.’ Her style has paid her well so far as a professional boxer.

Maira Moneo stepped into the squared circle for the first time as a professional boxer on July 14, 2018, against Amanda Lopes at Club Coetc, Montevideo. Moneo outclassed Lopes and won the fight on the judges’ scorecard with scores of 39-37, 40-38, and 39-38. After her successful inaugural outing, Moneo gathered five consecutive victories in her next five fights taking her tally to six wins and no loss.

Maira Moneo’s first loss in her professional boxing career came against Yanina del Carmen Lescano. Moneo and Lescano met earlier in the squared circle on November 10, 2018, in which Moneo defeated her by a unanimous decision. In their second showdown, Moneo and Lescano squared off against each other on February 8, 2024. Lescano suffered a cut over her eyebrow which the referee deemed to have resulted in a head butt by Moneo leading to her disqualification.

Maira Moneo recovered from her loss and won consecutive fights. She defeated Alys Sanchez on June 1, 2023, to win the interim WBA lightweight championship. Moneo faced Lizbeth Crespo on December 15, 2023, for the WBC interim lightweight championship. She defeated Lizbeth by unanimous decision and took the WBC interim strap home.

Maira Moneo and Yanina del Carmen Lescano squared off against each other in their second meeting on February 8, 2023, for the South American lightweight championship. The referee deducted a point in round seven from Moneo for delivering a rabbit punch to Lescano. As the fight progressed, Lescano suffered a cut on her eyebrow which the referee attributed to Moneo’s headbutt leading him to disqualify her and declare Lescano as the winner by disqualification. The loss is Lescano’s only defeat in her professional career as of July 2024.
