Before becoming a professional mixed martial artist, Michael Morales was Ecuador’s national champion in freestyle wrestling, MMA, and Muay Thai. He also worked as a helper at a Naval factory in order to support his dream of becoming a full-time mixed martial artist. In his professional debut, Morales secured a second-round TKO win against Alvaro Andres Vacacela Guerrero on August 19, 2017, at a promotion called Oro Fighting Championship. Later, with an undefeated professional record of eleven wins, Morales competed at Dana White’s Contender Series 2021. He faced Nikolay Veretennikov and won the bout via a unanimous decision, which earned him his UFC contract.
