Super featherweight, also referred to as junior lightweight, is a weight class in professional boxing that is contested between 126 pounds (57 kg) and 130 pounds (59 kg).

The current champions in the super featherweight division across major sanctioning bodies are Lamont Roach Jr. (WBA), Robson Conceição (WBC), Anthony Cacace (IBF), Emanuel Navarrete (WBO), and Anthony Cacace (IBO).

History of the Super Featherweight Class in Pro Boxing

The New York Walker Law established the super featherweight division in 1920. However, according to some documents, it first appeared in Europe around 1914.

The modern variation of the belt was formally introduced by the National Boxing Association (NBA) on July 20, 1959, after it vanished before reappearing in the ensuing decades. Harold Gomes beat Paul Jorgensen to win the vacant world super featherweight championship.

The WBC, IBF, and WBO introduced their own versions of the belt in 1968, 1984, and 1989, respectively. The longest reigning champion is South African boxer Brian Mitchell, who has made 12 title defenses.

Super featherweight champions who made history include Flash Elorde, Alexis Arguello, Julio Cesar Chavez, Diego Corrales, Marco Antonio Barrera, Azumah Nelson, Erik Morales, Juan Manuel Marquez, Oscar De La Hoya, Manny Pacquiao, and Floyd Mayweather Jr.
