Cris Cyborg is a prominent professional mixed martial artist who as of October 2024, competes for Bellator MMA and PFL. The veteran combat sports athlete made her debut in professional mixed martial arts on May 17, 2005, in a featherweight showdown against Erica Paes. Cyborg lost her debut fight by getting caught in a knee bar, leading to her submission. She bounced back and won 15 fights straight fights before making her promotional debut in the professional mixed martial arts promotion, the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).

On July 9, 2015, Cris Cyborg was welcomed into the octagon by Leslie Smith at UFC 198. Cyborg knocked her out in the first round, earning a first-round TKO victory.
