Regis Prograis, who goes by the moniker "Rougarou," was born on January 24, 1989, in New Orleans, Louisiana. The energetic super-lightweight boxer started his professional career at 23 years old on April 28, 2012. Over the years, Prograis developed a reputation through his aggressive style and knockout power that compiled an impressive record of 29-2 with 24 KOs as of October 23, 2024. In 2019, Prograis stopped Kiryl Relikh in the 6th round to win his first major title, the WBA super-lightweight title. After his close loss to Josh Taylor in the final of the World Boxing Super Series later in 2019, he defeated Jose Zepeda in the 11th round last year to capture the WBC super-lightweight title.

In his recent fights, Prograis retained his title with a split-decision win over Danielito Zorrilla in June 2023. He lost the bout to Devin Haney by unanimous decision in December 2023 and consequently lost his WBC title. His next fight is scheduled to take place on October 26, 2024, against Jack Catterall, in Manchester, England, after their initial fight date was postponed due to an injury Catterall sustained.
