Herb Dean is a veteran referee and a former professional mixed martial artist who has officiated matches in multiple professional mixed martial arts promotions. Currently, he works with the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC), where he is counted among the best referees of the promotion.

Herb Dean made his refereeing debut at UFC 47 in 2004. He officiated two man fights of the event. He has also acted in movies and television shows. He played a role in movies like Here Comes the Boom in 2012, and a Violent Man in 2017, and The Divine Fury in 2019.

Herb Dean encountered the first loss of his professional career on January 18, 2003, against Joe Riggs at Rage in the Cage 43: The Match. Riggs defeated him via first-round TKO. Dean last fought on July 14, 2007, against Dave Lageno. He lost the fight via first-round TKO and thus brought down curtains on his professional career.
