Tom Aspinall, the reigning UFC interim heavyweight champion, is a well-known English mixed martial artist who rose to the highest levels of the UFC heavyweight division in a relatively short time. Born on 11 April 1993 in Salford, England, Aspinall started his combat sports career at a young age under the guidance of his father, who trained him in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and boxing. He became a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt and even won the British Open in that discipline​. Aspinall began his professional fighting career in 2014, first fighting under the promotion Cage Warriors, where he made quite an impressive record for himself.

He made his debut in the UFC on July 25, 2020, and very quickly caught the attention of viewers by knocking out Jake Collier in just 45 seconds. He has managed to hold a clinical record in the UFC, with some good victories over fighters like Sergei Pavlovich, Marcin Tybura, and Alexander Volkov​. At 6'5" and approximately 257 pounds, Aspinall is one of the more well-rounded fighters in this division, with expertise in both striking and grappling. As of July 2024, Aspinall's professional MMA record is 14 wins and 3 losses, with 11 of those wins having been secured via knockout and the rest by submission​​. Aspinall’s next outing will see him defending the interim heavyweight title in a rematch against Curtis Blyades at UFC 304 on July 27, 2024.
