Some teams have been solid so far in the 2021 NFL season, while others have fallen short. Here are ten NFL teams that have struggled more than any of the others. They are the ten worst teams so far this year.
Worst teams of the 2021 NFL season
The worst teams in the NFL ranked #10-#9 so far this year.
#10 - Atlanta Falcons (5-6)
The Atlanta Falcons have had an up-and-down year. They are still in the NFC Wild Card picture, but their record is below .500. They are one of only five teams in the NFL with a points differential worse than the negative 100. That's because they have the 31st ranked scoring defense and 28th ranked scoring offense heading into Week 13.
#9 - Philadelphia Eagles (5-7)
The Philadelphia Eagles have been inconsistent all season long, and that starts with quarterback Jalen Hurts, who is trying to win the job as the starting quarterback in 2022. He ranks second in the NFL among quarterbacks in rushing yards, but his passing leaves more to be desired.
Hurts has barely completed 60 percent of his passes this season. He has thrown eight interceptions against just 13 touchdown passes and ranks 22nd in QBR. In his past two games, he has thrown three interceptions and no touchdown passes.

Worst NFL teams in the 2021 season
The worst teams in the NFL ranked #8-#5 so far this year.
#8 - Carolina Panthers (5-7)
The Carolina Panthers had a strong start to the 2021 NFL season, winning their first three games. Unfortunately it has all gone downhill from there. They've won just two of nine since. Sam Darnold proved not to be the answer at quarterback, throwing just seven touchdowns against 11 interceptions.
Cam Newton has taken over as the starter, but the Panthers have already lost both games that he started. To make things even worse, Christian McCaffrey has been placed back on the injured reserve list for the second time this year. That officially means that he will be out for the remainder of the season.
#7 - New York Giants (4-7)
The New York Giants used this past off-season to try and improve their offense. They signed top free agent wide receiver Kenny Golladay and selected Kadarius Toney in the first round of the NFL Draft. It hasn't really worked out for them yet, as they rank just 29th in the NFL in scoring offense, while quarterback Daniel Jones ranks 25th in QBR.
#6 - Seattle Seahawks (3-8)
The Seattle Seahawks suffered an unfortunate loss when Russell Wilson went down with a finger injury. He has since returned to action but has been unable to get the Seahawks momentum moving in the right direction. They have lost all three games since his return while averaging less than ten points per game in that stretch. They are running out of time to turn it around.
#5 - Chicago Bears (4-7)
The Chicago Bears started the 2021 NFL season with a respectable 3-2 record. It has been a rough stretch since then. The Bears lost their next five games in a row before finally earning a victory over the Detroit Lions. It wasn't exactly impressive beating a winless team on the last second field goal.
NFL's worst teams in the 2021 season
The worst teams in the NFL ranked #4-#1 so far this year.
#4 - New York Jets (3-8)
Robert Saleh's first year as the head coach of the New York Jets has been unimpressive. In particular, his defense has been disappointing for a coach that is supposed to be a defensive specialist. The Jets rank last in the entire NFL in points allowed per game and second to last in yards allowed per game.
Their offense hasn't been much better, ranking 27th in scoring. The Jets combined for the worst overall points differential in the entire NFL.
#3 - Jacksonville Jaguars (2-9)
The first-year NFL tandem between head coach Urban Meyer and quarterback Trevor Lawrence has been shaky at best. They average the second-lowest number of points per game in the NFL this season. It's all about the future for the Jacksonville Jaguars and the development of Lawrence is their number one priority. He has elite potential, if groomed correctly.
Trevor Lawrence is already showing improvements in his game as his rookie season plays itself out. He threw a massive seven interceptions in his first three games, but just three of them combined over his next eight games.
#2 - Houston Texans (2-9)
The Houston Texans offense is almost nonexistent without quarterback Deshaun Watson, who has not played at all in the 2021 NFL season. He has dealt with legal issues but has also demanded a trade. The Texans rank last in the NFL in scoring offense while losing nine of their last ten games. They will need to use this offseason to figure out their quarterback situation.
#1 - Detroit Lions (0-10-1)
The Detroit Lions are the only winless team in the NFL. It has been a frustrating season for them as they have been within ten points of victory in seven of their eleven games so far. Their offense scores the third least amount of points while their defense gives up the sixth most. They have six more opportunities to get their first win of the 2021 NFL season.
