2017 French Open mixed doubles champion, Rohan Machanda Bopanna is a professional tennis player from India. One of the most experienced players on the doubles tour, Bopanna was born on March 4, 1980 in Bangalore. He is a doubles specialist who completed two decades on the professional circuit this year. Bopanna’s current doubles partner is Australia’s Matthew Ebden.

As of September 2023, Rohan Bopanna holds a ranking of No. 7 in doubles (career-high No. 3). Along with the likes of Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi and Sania Mirza, Bopanna has formed a solid contingent of legendary Indian doubles players. Before Ebden, Bopanna formed a formidable doubles pairing with Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, and they were famously called the ‘Indo-Pak Express’. Bopanna has won 24 ATP doubles titles till date.

It goes without saying that Rohan Bopanna has also represented his country at numerous international events and tournaments. He has been a part of the Davis Cup team since 2002, is a two-time Olympian, as well as an Asian Games gold medalist.

However, he is yet to achieve his personal dream of winning Wimbledon. Possessing an impeccable serve and forehand, along with a technically sound single-handed backhand, it is surprising that Bopanna is yet to reach the final on the English grass at SW19. On the other hand, around 20 of his trophies have come on hard courts. He likes to take the ball on the rise, go up to the net when possible and take time away from his opponents.
