Appearance

Arrokuda is based on barracuda, a type of fish and draws inspiration from arrows as well. Shaped like a fish, this Pokemon has a long jaw which extends outwards from its body. Both sides of its brown body has three white arrow shaped markings on it pointing backwards. Right next to its face are orange gills while its tail resembles a propeller and is of a yellowish colour, except for the fins there which are brown. There are a total of five fins on the rest of its body which share the same light yellow shade. The top half of this Pokemon’s face is brown and the bottom half is of the same shade of yellow. The top half consists of half its eye and the bottom half has its mouth and jaw. It has pointy teeth sticking out of its mouth.

Behavior

Arrokuda thinks based on feelings and it has only one feeling – to show off its strong jaw by piercing enemies with it. If you ever swim in arrokuda infested water, don’t think that you’ll come out the way you went in. If it senses the slightest movement, it charges towards there with an intention to pierce whatever that is. If you really want to swim in that water despite being infested by Arrokuda, all you have to do is feed them. This makes their movements sluggish, which makes them weaker and vulnerable. However, by doing this you’re exposing them to Cramorant, which swallows them up.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Since Barraskewda is a pure water type, its strengths and weaknesses are pretty standard. It is resistant to fire, water, ice and steel type moves but is weak to grass and electric types. It has no immunities and all other types normally damage this Pokemon.

Best moveset

Arrokuda can send a trainer for their money in LC because of its insanely high Attack and Speed stat for this tier. Paired with Life Orb, as a held item, this Pokemon can be an all-out attacker which can deal quite a bit of damage to the enemy team. If there is another Pokemon in the team who can set up rain for Arrokuda, this moveset will be even more effective with the help of Swift Swim. Liquidation will receive STAB, which will make this the primary attack move of this Pokemon. It also has a 20% chance of lowering the opponent’s defense, which is incredibly good. Psychic Fangs is used for coverage. It is also helpful for breaking screens, which can be pretty annoying. It also covers Poison types, which is the secondary typing of many Grass type Pokemon. Drill Run will be helpful in coverage, especially against electric types which can be devastating to this Pokemon. Finally, Close Combat is the killer move with high power but lowering your own defense in return. It is also good for coverage.

Trivia

  1. During the reveal, Arrokuda was not shown as itself, but as a part of Cramorant which made a lot of people speculate it as a different Pokemon. It was later proven true.
  2. Arrokuda and Baraskewda are the only Pokemon to have the ability Propeller Tail.
  3. Arrokuda and Baraskewda are the only Pokemon to have Propeller Tail as a hidden ability.
