Necrozma is a legendary psychic-type Pokemon and a member of the Light Trio along with Solgaleo and Lunala. Known as the “Prism Pokémon”, Necrozma consumes light as its main energy source and must continue consuming light in order to avoid developing impurities. If Necrozma does not consume enough light, it will darken and become immobile which will result in a long slumber. Vengeful and destructive, Necrozma is an antagonist within Pokemon the Series: Sun & Moon and is the first antagonist of the main Pokemon game series to be a Pokemon rather than a human.

Appearance of Necrozma

Necrozma is a vaguely humanoid Pokemon made up of a black crystalline material that darkened as a result of its long slumber prior to the Pokemon series. Made up of angular shapes, Necrozma has multiple protrusions which form spikes and limbs with three hook-like claws on each limb. It has two disproportionately large hands with white triangles on the palms and white crystals which jut out and fade to black. Necrozma has a multicolored geometric brain prism that resembles a face with eyes and glows white when consuming light. It can alter its form by taking control over Solgaleo and Lunala and forming a crystallized version of its host.

Behavior of Necrozma

Necrozma is often vicious in its behavior due to its constant need for light. Known as the “Blinding One” by those in ancient Alola due to its ability to spread light across Ultra Space. After the citizens of Ultra Megalopolis imprisoned Necrozma within the Megalo Tower as a power source, Necrozma was injured in a way that caused it to constantly drain light. This injury causes Necrozma to despise humans and ravage its environment to search for light. It is considered a fully sentient creature motivated by vengeance and destruction.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Necrozma has a high special attack stat which makes it efficient with an offensive strategy. Though its relatively low speed and special defense stats can cause some issues in combat. As a psychic-type pokemon, Necrozma is especially strong against fighting and bug-types and is resistant to psychic and fighting attacks, but is weak against bug, dark, and ghost-type Pokemon.

Ultra Necrozma

Ultra Necrozma is a version of Necrozma which has fused with either Solgaleo or Lunala while holding an Ultranecrozium Z can use Ultra Burst in order to return to its original form before its captivity. Ultra Necrozma has altered stats from Necrozma, with a large increase in its speed and offensive stats, a small increase in its special defense stat, and a small decrease in its defense stat. These stat changes cause Ultra Necrozma to have a total base stat of 754. Ultra Necrozma is a psychic and dragon-type, while Necrozma itself is just a psychic-type, which alters its strengths and weaknesses by making it weak to ice, dragon, and fairy-types and strong against dragon-type Pokemon. Ultra Necrozma also gains the ability Neuroforce, which powers up super-effective moves.

This causes Dusk Mane Necrozma to be weak to ground and fire-type Pokemon, resistant to grass, steel, rock, flying, ice, dragon, fairy, and normal-type pokemon, and immune to poison-type attacks. This also has the consequence of making Dusk Mane Necrozma no longer weak to bug-type Pokemon when compared to Necrozma.
