Appearance

Registeel is a large Pokemon that seems to be made of a bulky steel and like the other Regi Pokemon, it has seven dots to indicate its face. Most of Registeel’s body is light gray with black face and arms although the light gray section looks like it is metal armour that is above its black skin. Its arms are slender and each arm has three long fingers with it a bipedal Pokemon that stands on two plated steel legs. Registeel is the tallest of the generation three Regi Pokemon at 6 feet and 3 inches, or 1.9 meters, tall.

Registeel Appearance

Behavior

Registeel is one of the three Regi Pokemon that were introduced in generation three. Along with the other two Regi Pokemon, Registeel is one of the protectors of the Tree of Beginning. Its singular role in the movie was to protect this tree from intruders. Despite its body being stronger than any other metal found on Earth, Registeel’s body is capable of stretching and shrinking flexibly. The Pokedex states that it likely became so sturdy due to the underground pressure over tens of thousands of years.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Unlike the other two Regi Pokemon from generation three, Registeel has more balanced defensive stats rather than it skewed across either physical or special defense. Like the other two Regi Pokemon, it is still quite slow but maintains a balance of attacks and health. Furthermore, as a monotype steel Pokemon, Registeel is 2x weak to fighting, ground, and fire type moves. It is immune to poison and resists normal, flying, rock, bug, steel, grass, psychic, ice, dragon, and fairy type moves.

Shiny Registeel

Shiny Registeel is very distinctive as compared to its regular variant and received a mint green shiny treatment. That means all of Shiny Registeel’s base colour palette changes from light gray to mint green and dark gray to brown. The eyes on Shiny Registeel are still red but now have a more lighter tone to it. Like all shiny Pokemon, Shiny Registeel gains a starry animation upon entering battle.

Best Moveset

While the other two Regi Pokemon of generation three committed their statlines to either physical or special defense, Registeel has a neater balance. The rest of its stats are fairly balanced, but its speed stat almost guarantees that it will be going last. It is best to utilize a defensive strategy and thus use Leftovers, as a held item, to ensure that Registeel can heal off any chip damage. Consider running Seismic Toss, Stealth Rock, Toxic, and Protect/Thunderbolt. Seismic Toss is a reliable source of damage for Registeel, Stealth Rock can provide chip damage against the opposing team while Toxic can grant you inevitability in a longer battle Finally, Protect can be used to buy time while Thunderbolt can grant you a type coverage option.

How to Catch Registeel in Pokemon Go

If you would like to obtain a Registeel in Pokemon Go, the only way to do so is to encounter one in a tier five raid battle. As a legendary Pokemon, Registeel does not appear in the wild and you cannot hatch one from any egg. You will need to keep your eyes peeled for a tier five raid battle near you if you want an opportunity to catch Registeel. Since Registeel does not evolve into any other Pokemon, you can reserve any candies you obtain to power up your Registeel.
