Salazzle Pokémon

Last Modified Jun 30, 2021 07:45 GMT

There have been many fire type Pokemon throughout the years and it turned out to be one of the most popular Pokemon types. However, Sun and Moon added another one of these popular types but with a twist. The dual fire/poison type Salazzle is not just unique in its design but also in its typing.

Appearance

Salazzle resembles a large, slender salamander. It's almost entirely a dark grey color but has patterns of red-pink markings as well as a purple underside. It has a long, grey and red tail which has two smaller tail like parts on top of it.

Behavior

Salazzle is the inverted form of the ‘alpha male’ concept. There are only female Salazzle and often live in caves or dens with a reverse-harem of male Salandit. The males bring food and are drawn to Salazzle by the pheromones in the poisonous gas it produces.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Salazzle’s unique typing gives it some strong type matchups. It is strong against and takes half damage from fighting, poison, steel, fire, and ice type moves and takes quarter damage from bug, grass, and fairy type moves. It does have weaknesses though and takes double damage from rock, water, and psychic type moves and quadruple damage from ground type moves.

Salazzle GX

Salazzle GX is a special GX card for the Pokemon Trading Card Game. Salazzle GX has special moves as well as a unique GX ability. Salazzle GX also follows the GX rule, rewarding the user for it fainting.

Best Moveset for Salazzle

Offensive: Salazzle has two major strengths: its special attack and speed. This makes it a perfect choice for stacking on powerful special moves like Fire Blast and Sludge Wave with stat boosts from Nasty Plot in order to deal out as many heavy hits as possible before opponents can even move.

Speed Based: Though Salazzle is fast, there are Pokemon faster. So against opponents with absurd speed stats using a Choice Scarf to boost speed and lots of strong offensive moves can give you the advantage.

How to Catch Salazzle in Pokemon Go

Salazzle is not yet in Pokemon Go however it can be easily assumed how to get it. It will probably evolve from female Salandits and will probably require about 100 Salandit candy. Both Salazzle and Salandit will probably appear in the wild in the same places as other fire types and poison types.

Video Guide

Trivia

Salazzle is based on a combination of real world poisonous salamanders as well as mythical salamanders which breathed fire.

Salazzle, as well as Salandit, are the only Pokemon with the fire/poison typing.

Salazzle’s typing also means it's the only poison type with a double resistance to fairy type moves.

FAQs

What does Salazzle evolve into?

Salazzle evolves from a female Salandit however it does not evolve further past that point.

Is Salazzle good competitively?

Fairy type Pokemon are one of the best types in competitive Pokemon and can be incredibly difficult to take down. But Salazzle is the perfect counter. Not only is it strong against them, but it learns multiple moves which deal super effective damage on fairy types. Salazzle with a Life Orb is a force to be reckoned with, fighting fairy types or not.

How rare is a female Salandit?

Salandit has an 87.5% chance to be male which means there's only a 12.5% chance that a Salandit will be female.

Conclusion

Salazzle’s uniqueness makes it a difficulty to counter. It’s a strong addition to a team and its strange typing will throw off unprepared opponents, allowing your Salazzle to get in lots of powerful attacks.
