Appearance

Woobat is a small, spherical Pokemon and is said to resemble the Honduran White Bat. It is covered with shaggy, light blue fur and has a large pig-like nose with heart shaped nostrils. Its eyes are completely covered with tufts of fur while its mouth has a singular fang peeking out when it smiles. Woobat also has two small black wings on either side that allow it to fly.

Behavior

Woobat uses its nose as echolocation to detect the ultrasonic waves it emits and it can also be used to grip the wall while Woobat sleeps. This makes the heart shaped symbols referenced in its Pokedex entry and a heart shaped symbol left on someone is said to bring good luck. It lives in caves and dark forests and preys on Bug Pokemon.

Strengths and Weaknesses

As a dual type Psychic and Flying Pokemon, Woobat is weak to Rock, Ghost, Electric, Dark and Ice type moves and will take twice the normal damage. It is immune to Ground type Pokemon and is resistant to Grass and Physic types, which will do half the damage, as well as Fighting types that will do a quarter the damage.

Best moveset (Woobat)

Woobat has a lot of strong moves including Future Sight, which is a move that has 120 power and 100% accuracy. Here are Woobat’s best moves: Future Sight hits two turns after being used, Synchronoise hits adjacent Pokemon of the same type as the user while Uproar lasts three turns and won’t let any Pokemon fall asleep. Finally, Psychic has a 10% chance of lowering the target’s Special Defense by 1.

FAQs

Is Woobat better than Pidove?

Yes, easily. Pidove is a Normal type, which will often not be better than other types. Woobat, on the other hand, has an extremely high speed, good leveled up attacks and comparatively better typing which makes it a solid choice on its own, even when not compared to Pidove.

Is Woobat in Pokemon Sword and Shield?

Yes, Woobat is available to both Sword and Shield players without any DLC. It spawns in Bridge Field with about a 35% spawn rate. It evolves to Swoobat, which can also be found in Bridge Field with the same spawn rate.

Is there a shiny Woobat?

Yes, in Pokemon Go. Pokemon Go has added a shiny Swoobat that will occur about every 500 Woobat encounters. It is an eerie green color, as opposed to the light blue of the standard Woobat.

Does Woobat evolve by walking?

Yes, but it needs candies as well. It has to be placed as a buddy Pokemon and walked with for 1 km before you can evolve it. This is similar to the actual evolution for Woobat, as that is only achieved when leveled up after reaching high friendship.

Conclusion

Woobat is a great Pokemon to have as both Psychic and Flying types have good advantages, and are strong in their own right. Woobat received a boost to its base stats in Generation VII, which makes it even stronger. It only has one evolution, but Woobat and Swoobat are two really good Pokemon.
