The Phoenix Mercury is a professional women's basketball team based in Phoenix, Arizona. They compete in the Western Conference of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Three WNBA championships were won by the Mercury in 2007, 2009, and 2014. Phoenix Mercury History
The team was founded in 1997 and played in the WNBA's first season as one of the first eight clubs. Basketball legend and Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Cheryl Miller was the Mercury's first head coach. The team has advanced to the WNBA Playoffs an incredible eighteen times in its twenty-six-year history.

The Phoenix Mercury franchise is mostly owned by Mat Ishbia. American billionaire Mathew Randall Ishbia serves as chairman and CEO of United Wholesale Mortgage, a mortgage provider. Together with his older brother Justin, Ishbia owns the majority of the Phoenix Suns in the NBA and the Phoenix Mercury in the WNBA.

The Phoenix Mercury's head coach is Nate Tibbetts. With almost 20 years of NBA and NBA G League coaching experience, he is a well-respected, experienced coach. Tibbetts, who has 24 years of professional coaching experience, was named the 12th head coach in Mercury history. This includes working as an assistant coach in the NBA for 13 years with the Cleveland Cavaliers, Portland Trail Blazers, and Orlando Magic.

Flipper's is the first apparel brand in the WNBA to be named the jersey badge partner for the 2025 Mercury season. The partnership was announced by the Phoenix Mercury and Flipper's, an active lifestyle gear company that draws inspiration from the love of roller skating.
