His parents, Johann and Siglinde Sinner live and work in Sexten. His father is a chef, and his mother works as a waitress at a ski lodge. He has a brother named Marc Sinner. At the young age of three, Sinner started both skiing and playing tennis. He was an accomplished junior skier in Italy between the ages of eight and 12. During this time, he won a national championship in giant slalom at the age of eight and achieved second place in a national competition when he was twelve.

During his ski training, Sinner took a break from playing tennis for one year when he was seven years old. His father encouraged him to return to tennis after that break. However, tennis was not his main focus at that time. Skiing and football were more important to him than tennis. By the time Sinner turned thirteen, he stopped pursuing skiing and football to pursue tennis full-time.
