Subsequently transferring to Quinnipiac University, he contributed to the Quinnipiac Bobcats men's ice hockey team during the 2012–13 and 2013–14 seasons, amassing notable statistics of 50 goals, 54 assists, and 162 penalty minutes in 148 college games. His academic journey concluded with a bachelor's and master's degree in journalism from Quinnipiac University.

Post-college, Samuels-Thomas experienced multiple transitions in his professional playing career, including stints with the Buffalo Sabres, Ontario Reign, Manchester Monarchs, and various European clubs. His journey took him through leagues such as the Czech Extraliga (ELH), Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL), the Austrian Hockey League, and the ECHL.

Notably, he concluded his playing career in January 2021. Embarking on a new chapter, Samuels-Thomas entered the officiating realm, securing a minor-league contract with the NHL for the 2021–22 season.
