The NXT Tag Team Championship is the top prize for tag teams in WWE's developmental brand, NXT. Established in 2013, it's where future WWE stars hone their skills in brutal two-on-two competition. Past champions like The Wyatt Family and The Authors of Pain went on to dominate the main roster, proving the NXT Tag Titles are a stepping stone to greatness. The title was introduced in January 2013. In 2022, NXT's sister-brand NXT UK ended its programming and the NXT UK Tag Team Championship was unified into the NXT Tag Team Championship.

The current NXT Tag Team Champions are Axiom and Nathan Frazer. They won the titles on April 9, 2024, defeating Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin on NXT. This is the first reign for both Axiom and Frazer as a team and individually. Axiom is known for his high-flying offense and innovative aerial maneuvers. He has impressed audiences with his agility and willingness to take risks in the ring. Nathan Frazer brings a different skillset to the team, excelling in technical wrestling and strategic thinking. Their contrasting styles create an unpredictable and exciting duo that has quickly captured the attention of the NXT fanbase. Prior to Axiom & Frazer's victory, the NXT Tag Team Championship was held by Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin.

NXT Tag Team Championship History

Established in January 2013, the NXT Tag Team Championship is the pinnacle achievement for tag teams within WWE's developmental brand, NXT. It serves as a training ground for future WWE stars, pushing them to hone their skills in fierce two-on-two competition. The inaugural championship was awarded to British Ambition (Adrian Neville and Oliver Grey) on February 13, 2013, after they emerged victorious from a tournament. The early years of the title saw a rapid turnover, with teams like The Ascension, The Vaudevillains, and Enzo Amore & Colin Cassady capturing gold and establishing themselves as fan favorites.

The landscape shifted in 2016 with the emergence of The Revival (Scott Dawson and Dash Wilder). Their technical prowess and focus on in-ring storytelling set a new standard for the division. This period also saw the reign of The Authors of Pain (Akam and Rezar), whose dominance paved the way for their eventual call-up to the WWE main roster. In 2019, NXT transitioned into a more prominent position within the WWE landscape, becoming known as the "third brand." This period saw established teams like The Undisputed Era (Adam Cole, Kyle O'Reilly, Roderick Strong, and Bobby Fish) hold the championship for multiple reigns, further solidifying the titles' prestige. With the relaunch of NXT as a developmental brand in 2022, the NXT UK Tag Team Championship was unified with the NXT Tag Team Championship, creating a single unified title for the entire brand. The current reign belongs to the high-flying Axiom and the technically gifted Nathan Frazer. They dethroned Bron Breakker and Baron Corbin on April 9, 2024, marking their first taste of championship glory.
