
Chennai Super Kings (CSK) are a franchise team playing in the Indian Premier League (IPL). CSK first competed in the tournament in 2008. The Chennai-based team are the joint most successful franchise team in the IPL alongside Mumbai Indians (MI) with five titles, as of April 2025. They won their first IPL title in 2010 before lifting the trophy again in 2011. They also became the IPL champions in 2018, 2021, and 2023.
Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are one of the newer teams in the IPL as they started playing in the richest cricket league in 2022. LSG qualified for the IPL playoffs in 2022 before being beaten in the Eliminator by Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). They again lost in the Eliminator at the hands of MI in the IPL 2023. After finishing third in back-to-back seasons, LSG ended their IPL 2024 campaign in seventh place.
