Kamaru Usman is one of the most dominant mixed martial arts competitors who has dominated the sport in the welterweight division for years in the Ultimate Fighting Championship. Born in Auchi, Edo, Nigeria, Usman moved to the United States of America with his family when he was a kid. He wrestled in high school and ultimately went on to excel as a mixed martial artist. Usman made his professional mixed martial arts debut against David Glover on November 30, 2012, at RFA 5 in Kearney, Nebraska, United States. He won the fight via TKO in the second round. Usman suffered a loss in his second professional showdown against Jose Caceres but recovered in his next fight and maintained a dominant streak of 19 fights for years.

In the prime of his dominance, Usman won the welterweight title by defeating Tyron Woodley at UFC 235 on March 2, 2019, by unanimous decision. He successfully defended his title five times during his reign before dropping it to Leon Edwards at UFC 278.

Kamaru Usman fought Leon Edwards in a welterweight title bout at UFC 278 on August 20, 2022. Edwards defeated Usman via TKO in the fourth round of the fight, ending his formidable reign as the UFC welterweight champion.

Leon Edwards vs. Kamaru Usman III (UFC 286)

Kamaru Usman faced Leon Edwards in a rematch at UFC 286 for the welterweight title. He failed to reclaim the belt and ended up losing by unanimous decision to Leon Edwards and suffered his second loss in the promotion.

Khamzat Chimaev vs. Leon Edwards (UFC 294)

Kamaru Usman stepped up to challenge the undefeated Khamzat Chimaev in a middleweight showdown as a short notice replacement for Paulo Costa at UFC 294. He went through the three rounds with Chimaev but ended up coming up short and lost by a majority decision.
