Francis Ngannou

Francis Ngannou was born on September 5, 1986, in Batie, Cameroon, and as of October 2024, is a mixed martial artist who has also competed in professional boxing. Born in poverty, he began working in a sand quarry at the tender age of 10 years. With dreams of one day becoming a boxing champion inspired by Mike Tyson, Ngannou embarked on a 14-month journey from Cameroon to Europe.

He finally reached Paris, where he began training in mixed martial arts. Ngannou would eventually make his UFC debut in 2015 and quickly rose through the ranks in the organization's heavyweight division. Ngannou had knockout wins over ranked heavyweights such as Andrei Arlovski and Alistair Overeem. He had built a reputation for possessing one of the strongest punches ever measured in combat sports. After falling in defeat during his first title fight against Stipe Miocic in 2018, Ngannou was able to recover and then become the UFC heavyweight champion in 2021. Ngannou's professional trajectory changed in 2023 when, after disputes over his contract, he left the UFC. He signed with the PFL for MMA, but he also entered the world of professional boxing. The Cameroonian's name started hitting the headlines again as he was part of two high-profile boxing bouts, against Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. Ngannou came up short in both bouts, suffering defeats via a unanimous decision and a second-round KO, respectively.

Francis Ngannou UFC 5

Francis Ngannou won't appear in the next installment of the UFC video game franchise, UFC 5. This absence is due to Ngannou leaving the UFC and signing a contract with the Professional Fighters League (PFL) in 2023. His exit from the UFC was due to disagreements regarding his contract, particularly relating to fighter pay and freedom to take up boxing fights.

Since Ngannou is no longer under UFC management, it aligns with EA Sports' decision to exclude him from the game, as the UFC games typically only feature athletes on its active roster.
