Stipe Miocic was born on August 19, 1982, in Euclid, Ohio, and is a highly successful American mixed martial artist of Croatian descent. He competes for the UFC in the heavyweight division and is widely considered one of the greatest heavyweights in MMA history. Miocic’s athletic background encompasses baseball, wrestling, and Golden Gloves boxing.

The Ohio native started his professional MMA career with a streak of knockouts, winning the NAAFS Heavyweight Championship en route to his 2011 UFC debut. He remains the most accomplished heavyweight champ in UFC history, setting a record for most consecutive UFC Heavyweight title defenses with 3, and is a former two-time world champion. Some of the biggest wins in his career have come against Junior dos Santos, Daniel Cormier, Alistair Overeem, and Francis Ngannou. Heading into UFC 309, Miocic has a professional record of 20-4-0 and he is set to fight Jon Jones at UFC 309 to try and take the UFC Heavyweight Championship.

He considers being a firefighter an important part of his life and does not spare time from the job even when training for major events.

In the latest UFC embedded series for UFC 309, Miocic was recognized for his work as a firefighter by the New York City Fire Department (FDNY).
