Former WBO heavyweight Joseph Dennis Parker, a boxer from New Zealand, was born on January 9, 1992. At the regional level, he has won multiple heavyweight titles, including those from the PABA, OPBF, New Zealand, and WBO Oriental, Africa, and Oceania.

Parker was coached by Sir Bob Jones at Duco Events in Auckland, where he started his professional career in July 2012. When Parker overcame Andy Ruiz to take the vacant WBO heavyweight title, he created history by being the first boxer from New Zealand or the Pacific Islands to win a major world championship.

On October 28, 2023, as the undercard match for Tyson Fury vs. Francis Ngannou pay-per-view at Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Parker fought for the vacant IBF and WBO Inter-Continental heavyweight titles against hard-hitting Canadian heavyweight boxer Simon "The Grizzly" Kean. It was Parker's third fight of the year.

Parker used a devastating uppercut in the third round of their scheduled 12-round battle to convincingly knock out Kean and win the bout as well as the interim heavyweight belts from the WBO and IBF.

Parker shocked the world when he faced off against the former WBC heavyweight champion, Deontay Wilder, and won via a unanimous decision. The fight took place on December 23, 2023, at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh.
