Kamaru Usman is a prominent professional mixed martial artist in the UFC. He has been active as a professional competitor since 2012. Usman is a former longtime UFC welterweight champion and the company's pound-for-pound No. 1-ranked fighter.

After years of dominance and five successful title defenses, Usman faced Leon Edwards for the second time in his professional career at UFC 278. Edwards challenged him for the championship in the bout. In the closing moments of the five-round showdown, Edwards connected a head kick, knocking out Usman and dislodging him from the welterweight throne. Usman has since lost three consecutive fights and is scheduled to take on Joaquin Buckley in his upcoming fight on June 14, 2025, at UFC on ESPN: Usman vs. Buckley.
