Power Slap

One of the most controversial and exciting sports promotions, Power Slap has been produced and executed by the UFC CEO, Dana White. He founded the promotion in 2022 and premiered for the first time in January 2023. As per CNN, the reason for White to come up with such a combat sport is that he felt intrigued watching Slap Fight on social media. Later, Dana White took it to the Nevada State Athletic Commission got Power Slap licensed, and started promoting the slap fights majorly through UFC as a medium.

As with any new sport, Power Slap has also got rules and regulations that need to be followed by the contenders. However exciting the sport looks like, the controversies regarding these competitors's long-term and short-term health are still in doubt. Nevertheless, the promotion promises to take care of the health of the contestants before and after the fight.

Power Slap weight classes

Power Slap has weight classes same as that of Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts. Weight classes included in Power Slap are namely Super heavyweight, Heavyweight, Light heavyweight, Middleweight, and Welterweight. Also, catchweight bouts are permitted in the promotion.

Just like any other combat sport, weight classes are crucial in Power Slap. The contenders must weigh in before the fight, and in case of any misconduct in the final weight, the liable has to pay 20% of his purse to his opponent.

For the female category, there are no unified weight classes as there are not many women competing in the promotion.
