Dillon Danis is an American mixed martial artist who competes in the welterweight division of Bellator MMA. Born and brought up in Prispanny Hills, Troy, New Jersey, United States, he had a deep interest in jiu-jitsu from a very young age.



He took up training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu at the age of 15 after being involved in a fight in his school. Couple of years down the line, Danis became a visitor to Marcelo Gracie’s academy in New York and 1t 19 he moved to New York to consolidate his chances of having a career in Brazilian jiu-jitsu. In the following years, he accumulated victories in multiple tournaments and was awarded a black belt under Marcelo Gracie at the age of 21 on April 13, 2015.



Dillon Danis competed in grappling for two years from 2015 to 2017 where he was a part of 34 total competitions. He won 18 bouts and lost 16 before switching to mixed martial arts. He was signed by Bellator MMA and made his debut for the promotion on April 28, 2018 against Kyle Walker. He won the fight via submission in the first round and has a professional MMA record of 2 wins and 0 losses.

Dillon Danis’ Popularity

Dillon Danis raised eyebrows and gathered traction in the mixed martial arts universe after he joined the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) superstar Conor McGregor’s training camp as a coach. McGregor was scheduled to face Nate Diaz at UFC 202 in a rematch for which he roped in Danis. Their association continued for the high-profile Khabib Nurmagomedov vs. Conor McGregor at UFC 229.



On the day of the bout between the two superstars, a member of McGregor’s team provoked Nurmagomedov prompting him to infamously jump over the cage apparently on Danis. Dillon Danis threw punches in reaction before a chaotic brawl ensued at the venue between the two camps. In the aftermath, Dillon Danis was fined $7,500 along with a suspension of 7 months.



His association with one of the biggest names in the mixed martial arts business Conor McGregor, and his regular provocative social media presence brought enough fame for him to land up a contract with Bellator MMA without having any amateur fighting record in mixed martial arts. These days he is involved in a bitter social media beef with YouTuber turned pro wrestler and boxer Logan Paul ahead of their bout inside a squared circle on October 14, 2023.
