The Washington Commanders were originally established as the Boston Braves in Boston. They relocated to Washington D.C. the following year and were renamed to the Redskins. For many years, the Redskins logo was associated with negative connotations. As part of a wave of name changes following the George Floyd protests in 2020, pressure from multiple NFL and team sponsors led to its retirement, mostly due to knowledge of the Native American mascot debate rekindled by the aforementioned protests. Before changing their name to the Commanders in 2022, the squad spent two seasons playing under the name Washington Football Team. Only five teams in the NFL have more than 600 victories overall, and this one has played more than 1,000 games."Hail to the Commanders" (formerly "Hail to the Redskins" from 1937 until 2019), which is performed by their marching band after each touchdown scored by the team at home, was one of the first NFL teams to have a fight song. According to Forbes, the team is worth US$5.6 billion, which places them as the sixth-most valuable team in the league as of 2023.

Defensve tackle Jonathan Allen and wide receiver Terry McLaurin are the top players for the Washington Commanders' squad. Joining them is defensive tackle Daron Payne who had a great season in 2022-23 considering the overall performance of the team. Defensive end Montez Sweat is another player who was great for the Commanders in the last season and will be looking to continure his form in the league.
