The NHL All-Star Game is a yearly pre-season event that puts top players against one another since 1947. It usually takes place in late January or early February (NHL All-Star Weekend). Prior to an All-Star game, there is an All-Star Skills Competition, which consists of various events like fastest skater, accuracy shooting, etc.
Representatives of the Professional Hockey Writers Association vote for the NHL All-Star Team at the end of the regular season. Each player is selected according to the division of the NHL team that they currently play for.
An NHL All-Star game differs from a typical NHL game in terms of format. Teams play three-on-three for ten minutes each throughout the two halves of the All-Star game. Each semifinal victor advances to the finale. In the event that any of these games end in a tie, the winner will be decided by a three-round shootout.
The 2024 National Hockey League All-Star Game will take place at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, Ontario, the home of the Toronto Maple Leafs, on February 3.
