The veteran center Brittney Yvette Griner plays for the Atlanta Dream in the WNBA as of January 2025. She played college basketball at Baylor University from 2009 to 2013. In her junior season, she won the NCAA championship and was named the NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player. During that season, she averaged 23.2 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 5 blocks per game.

Griner is a three-time Olympic gold medalist with the U.S. women's national basketball team and a 10-time WNBA All-Star. She won a championship with the Phoenix Mercury in 2014. Additionally, she has been a two-time WNBA scoring champion (2017, 2019) and led the league in blocks a record eight times (2013–2019, 2021). In the 2024 WNBA regular season, Griner averaged 17.8 points, 6.6 rebounds, 2.3 assists, and 1.5 blocks per game. Griner also had a remarkable career outside the WNBA, playing for top international teams like the Zhejiang Golden Bulls (2013–2014), Beijing Great Wall (2014–2015), and UMMC Ekaterinburg (2015–2022). She won three Russian National League titles (2015–2017) and four EuroLeague championships (2016, 2018, 2019, 2021) with UMMC Ekaterinburg. In 2025, Griner joined the 3x3 basketball league, Unrivaled, becoming its 24th player. She plays for Team Phantom BC in Unrivaled.

She only missed playoffs in the 2020 and 2023 WNBA seasons since she was drafted by Mercury in 2014.
