Carlito (birth name: Carlos Edwin Colón Coates Jr.) the Puerto Rican professional grappler is currently performing on SmackDown. He belongs to the Colón wrestling family by birth. Carlito made his debut at the World Wrestling Council (WWC) in the year 1999. He won the WWC Puerto Rico Heavyweight Championship (one time) and the WWC Universal Heavyweight Championship (17 times) in the promotion.


He signed with the WWE in 2003 and worked there till 2010. he spent 16 months at Ohio Valley Wrestling (OVW) after signing with the advancement. After debuting in the main roster in 2004, he won the US Title (one time) and the Intercontinental Title (one time). He is the main grappler to come out on top for a title on two separate debuts in WWE and the second Puerto Rican grappler (after Pedro Morales) to hold the Intercontinental Title. Carlito and his sibling Primo turned into the main tag team to bring together the WWE Tag Team Titles and World Tag Team Titles at WrestleMania 25 preceding leaving WWE in May 2010.

Carlos Edwin became a gym member out of his admiration for Antonino Rocca and Miguel Pérez. he first appeared in a fight against Bobo Brazil in Boston, Massachusetts in the year 1966. He earned $15 for his performance in that fight. He started wrestling as an afoot wrestler in the United States and in Canada. He appeared in a single match at World Wide Wrestling Federation (WWWF) in 1967.


He established Capitol Sports Promotions in Puerto Rico with Victor Jovica. He wrestled when neighborhood stars like Dark Georgie, Barrabas, and Miguel Pérez, Sr. imparted the spotlight. His wrestling organization was additionally liable for welcoming significant American wrestling stars like Ric Flair, Bruiser Brody, Randy Savage, Stan Hansen, and others to wrestle in Puerto Rico. The enemy of Colón's personality was Abdullah the Butcher, with whom he organized a well-established fight that endured very nearly twenty years.


Colón beat Ric Flair in a fight for the NWA World Heavyweight Title in 1983. Sometime thereafter, Colón expected hospitalization because of injury following a match against Bruiser Brody. He chose to retire from proficient wrestling after his appearance in the Rumble match. Colón was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame by his sons Carlito, and Primo and his nephew Orlando in the year 2014.
