The twelfth installment of the Indian Premier League is all set to begin from the 23rd of March, 2019. Fans all over are excited for one of the most awaited cricket tournaments of the year. Let's take a look at the head to head statistics of KKR and RR.
Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals have been rivals to one another ever since IPL began in 2008. They have always been at par with each other, so much so as, they have produced two super over matches, one in 2009 IPL and one in 2014 IPL, out of their 19 encounters so far. Both of which ended in Rajasthan Royal’s victory.
These two IPL giants have faced each other for a total of 19 times. Their statistics stands testimony to how much equally balanced these two teams are. Both the teams have won 9 of the matches each and one ended with no result.
They faced each other for the first time on 1st of May 2018 at Jaipur. That match was won by the Royals by 45 runs. Royals went on to win the inaugural season of IPL. The last time that these two teams locked horns was on 23rd of May 2018, which ended in a KKR victory by 25 runs at Kolkata. In fact in the last season KKR won on all the three occasions on which they faced the Royals thus crushing them completely.
The current captain of the Knights is wicket-keeper-batsman, Dinesh Karthik, who has recently gained a reputation of a T20 finisher especially after the last ball-6 victory of Bangladesh in the Nidahasa Trophy last year. The Royals are captained by the Indian Cricket team vice captain, Ajinkya Rahane.
