Widely regarded as the best batsman of his generation, Virat Kohli has been impressing everyone since leading India to glory in the Under-19 World Cup at Kuala Lumpur in 2008.

Kohli started training at the West Delhi Cricket Academy in 1998. He started playing for Delhi Under-15 team in 2002. He became the captain of the team for the 2003-04 Polly Umrigar Trophy. He played in the 2003-04 Vijay Merchant Trophy as a part of the Delhi Under-17 team. His List A debut came in 2006 against Services. The same year he was selected in the India Under-19 squad. Kohli started his IPL career with Royal Challengers Bangalore on a youth contract. He had an indifferent inaugural season as he managed to score only 165 runs in 12 innings.
